| GeoSearch Help |

GeoSearch makes it easy to find any place in Canada, see it on a map, and get basic Census
data for that place. Click and zoom on a map of Canada to find a specific place of interest
or type the name of the place and let the system find and display the appropriate map.
GeoSearch also automatically displays population and dwelling counts for the place
selected, and shows what kind of geographic area it is and its relationship to other
geographic areas. This help file will assist you to get the most out of GeoSearch Tutorials |

| Zoom in |
Enlarges the map in two ways. First click on the area you wish to enlarge.
The point you clicked is now the center of the map and has been enlarged by a
factor of 2. The second way to enlarge a portion of the map is to box a target
area. Move the mouse above and to the left of the target area. Click and hold the
mouse button down, drag the mouse below and to the right of the target area. When
you have a box around the target area, release the mouse button. The area contained
inside the box fills the map window. |

| Zoom out |
Pushes the map further away in two ways. First click on the area you wish to push away.
The point you clicked is now the center of the map and has been pushed away by a factor
of 2. The second way to push away the map is to box a target area. Move the mouse above
and to the left of the target area. Click and hold the mouse button down, drag the mouse
below and to the right of the target area. When you have a box around the target area,
release the mouse button. The map will be redrawn at a different scale. The smaller the
box you define the farther you will push the map away. |

| Canada map |
Automatically redraws the map to show Canada. Only provincial boundaries are
shown at this extent.

| Pan |
Slides the map around. Press and hold the mouse button down, drag,
then release the mouse button. The map will be refreshed and will show a new area.

| Identify |
Highlights an area, then retrieves its name, geographic level and data. Click an area on
the map that you wish to identify. Information for the area is displayed below the map in
the data window. A set of boundaries must be selected to use this function.

| Select boundary |
Used to select a set of boundaries. Click a circle to select a set of boundaries.
The map is updated with a new set of boundaries.

| Clear selected place |
Removes the yellow highlight of a selected place. The map will be refreshed and
the selected place will no longer be highlighted.

| Map legend |
Displays the map legend in a pop-up window.

Displays this help file and tutorials in a pop-up window.
