GeoSearch finds any place in Canada, shows it on a map, and gives basic Census data for that place. This application has features that may not be accessible to all users, but all the information it presents can be found on the Population and Dwelling Tables, and reference maps.
Click and zoom on a map of Canada to find a specific place of interest or type the name of the place and let the system find and display the appropriate map. GeoSearch also automatically displays population and dwelling counts for the place selected, and shows what type of geographic area it is and its relationship to other geographic areas. An online tutorial is available.
Reference maps present the standard geographic areas for which census data are available. The maps show the boundaries, names and codes of the areas on an underlying base of major roads and water features. The maps can either be viewed online or purchased in electronic or paper format.
Thematic maps present census data such as population change on a map so that geographic patterns in the data are more easily understood.
